A Passionate Leader

The American church is now entering familiar territory - a cross forward into an old concept... one journey... one walk... one story to share; which transcends a passive leader into a passionate leader... touching this generation with the same concept used for centuries... building the church by telling the story that transforms unbelievers into believers. Taking What we have received and giving this same unconditional love and compassion to those placed on our journey.

The church reached new levels for centuries by sharing the correct story but at the same time disputing the Holy scriptures in debates across this land - following traditions and interpretations founded upon the wisdom of that era... reaching the level for that time frame.

As present leaders; we hear the voice of God as He speaks from the hearts of this generation and HIS desire is as always, motivate them to commune with me.

His divine calling confirms who we are - leaders in Christ. His authoritative power urges us as leaders to push past strongholds of yesterday, yet hold on to the transcending story; elevating that same message to a new level in which we live... into the hearts of this generation.

It takes faith and boldness to be this type of leader - who will follow God and lead God's people into the next level yet a familiar place in God. My Pastor, Marvin Norris is that type of leader.

Skinny As A Rail In 2012 update

I had said on FACEBOOK my New Years Resolution was: Skinny as a rail in 2012 ha! ha!

So today it has been one week since I started my journey to lose 20 to 30lbs. I have lost 5lbs... I am going to start all over again this week... so if I can loose 5 more pounds; I will be very pleased. I need your prayers and I'm standing on the scripture Luke 1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible.

LAST WEEK'S POST: So today is January 4th, and I went to my physician for a check-up and was weighed... want drama? It was me, running frantic in my inner thoughts. Obviously I knew it had been a few years since I had seen my usual 120 lb weight zone and I knew I had went from a size 5 to a size 12 in the past few years but had managed to remain in that size 12... even... after being prescribed blood pressure medicine prior to this visit.

I had been weighed several times before this visit but this time the number jumped out at me like a monster in a scary movie. So I have decided to lose weight. I want to loose 20 to 30 pounds and I wanted to be accountable... so I involved you guys to keep me focused. I started exercising today... a starting point.. I will keep you posted. 1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.t.Galatians 5:22-23 ESV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

The Heartbeat Of Progress Is Change

Change is definitely the heartbeat of progress yet we all hate it superlatively. Change is always moving, never ceasing.

Our biggest problem with change is we do not like getting out of our comfort zone - it's easy... no extra thought processing, no extra work habits... the ordinary... doing the same ole thing, the same ole way.

Without change we become stagnant in a pool of do-nothing... in a box... in a rut... in a circle... where our vision has perished, the passion is faded, the zeal is gone and there remains no purpose. It is time for 'RADICAL" change... and the 'AUDACITY' to move forward.

Pastor Marvin's life and my life as well, have been changing since the day we were born, and especially since our total commitment to God when we began our church... no split, just faith; because it is about the journey. Life is our own personal story to share... the roller coaster rides... hills, curves, drop offs, sudden stops, tunnels and bright lights-but it is so comforting to know we are in God's hands, in God's control because when you pastor; you never know what's ahead but you do know who's directing you... I would not change it for this world riches.

Where Destiny Awaits

Straight Shot

There are billboards flashing in the minds of God's people... placed there by the enemy of your destiny... constructed every few blocks to off course your journey... extravagant, alluring signs that will take you into a part of town you do not want to be... a place where the enemy is looking for people just like you to make the wrong turn.

His specialty is a business of deception...with charismatic words and pleasing pictures that are inviting and appealing to the eye but to yield the exit will take you onto an unrecognizable path,where heartbreak and destruction lives.

The enemy of your destiny is all about destroying your life, your family, your character and the influence you have on others... pausing God's plan for your life... beware of this trickery.

If you do accidentally take the exit... reach for God's G P S and follow His directions... HIS WORD and YOUR PRAYERS... will get you back on the main highway where restoration is waiting at the next rest stop... a place of preparation to get you back on the right road again.

This time you will listen more carefully for the heartbeat and voice of God... watching for the ROAD SIGNS that Christ has placed for you to follow as you travel God's interstate, as it leads you to HIS destination... exactly where you are suppose to be... His plan and purpose for your life where destiny awaits.

Good morning! This is an awesome day-God has made.

My Name is Betty Norris and I am married to the pastor of Amazing Life church.

I, as most pastor's wives are frequently introduced: "This is my pastor's wife."

-We're so glad some of you claim us. lol-
Seriously, does this phrase diminish respect? Of course not. Does this phrase take away our individuality? Not at all. We are indeed pastors wives but... we are also Christian leaders.

Our first ministry is our marriage: Unity in love! Unity in spirit! Unity in respect!

As a Christian wife; my first leadership role is to stand by my husband. There is a purpose why God placed him in my life; to love and become a true help-mate, fulfilling our destiny together in Christ.

There is a joke: "God made man the head of the house but the woman is the neck that turns his head." This is true, we as wives can influence our husbands to a degree on certain issues...

but if he is a true pastor - a true leader; no-one, not even his wife will change "THE WORD" that he has received from his calling... for the sake of Jesus Christ. He will stand firmly and fight to give that exact "WORD" to his congregation.

My Pastor! Pastor Marvin Norris is that kind of leader. A great man and I am proud to be introduced as his wife. Thank God for pastors that are true leaders.

Life does not wait for your next big break... until you get on your feet... get it all together... find your self or accomplish your next dream.

Life just lives; why not learn to live your life in 'HIM' ...'HE' is the gift of life. Life is all about the journey and sharing our stories... influencing and helping others get to their destiny.

'God' is our creator and is the very air we breathe... giving us a precious redeemer through 'HIS' throne of grace.

Live, rejoice, learn to be content, smile...

Praise 'HIM' as the Savior of this world. 'He' is worthy to be praised.

LIFE is a gift from God. A span of time to live and share our journey... our stories... knowledge, thoughts, interest and talents... helping others to live their lives to the fullest.

A positive input adds and build's friendships, relationships, families, communities, and God's kingdom.

Remember in the Christmas movie... Scrooge, the musical... the song, 'I LOVE LIFE' ... he didn't know how much he loved life until he was faced with the fact: He was going to die if he didn't change. We should truly live and make every second count for our families, friends and promoting the love of Christ to our world...

Developing a 'little' bit of our legacy, and a whole 'lot' of the Savior's legacy to live on through the next generations.

I challenge you to face life today with a new zeal in your participation... get involved... become a part of God's kingdom in doing good for our churches, our towns, our communities and our country.

I Am Tired Of Labels On People

John 3:26 says "for God so loved the world" He doesn't just love good people, well dressed people, rich people or well behaved people; He loves all of humanity, every single person. This ideal is so simple and yet seems so very hard for people to understand. God loves everyone, and if He does; that means, He loves the ones we have labeled.

Here's the really hard part, so what did we do to deserve the love of the creator of the universe. What do we offer Him that makes Him want to love us? Nothing, absolutely nothing. That answer makes no sense, but it's the truth. God loves us simply because He is God and it is His nature to love and if we are made in the image of God, it will be our nature to love all of humanity.

I am married to an awesome man and we pastor and founded an awesome church. in a rural small town.. we welcome all people; we can not see God using the labels that people place on others today. People are no longer known by their name, knowledge or what they attribute to society; but are referred to by their sin or sex life... sounds a lot like the Pharisees, with the adulterous woman they wanted to stone; but Jesus said, "neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more." Jesus was all about love and grace to the ones that needed it the most.

I can not be a part of placing labels. I will be a part of God's love and grace. I love people... God's creation is to be loved as he loves us ALL.

What are the labels to do with their problems and questions in life? Do you think they can only get self help books? Are they suppose to skip church because they offend someone by just being in the midst or singing a song to worship their creator.

Do they not have the right to come and worship God regardless of what you think? This is not about what we think or how we feel; it is about God's saving grace and His awesome developing plan and purpose in the lives of others.

We have run a group of people away from the church because we can't just love as God does. We won't allow God to use the good news and His Spirit to move in the hearts of the people we do not understand. Don't you know God understands. He knows their birth, He knows their tragedies and He knows their hearts desires... the things we can't see or understand and God has the answers. He knows how to solve the smallest problem. He knows how to heal and bring people together through love.

Church is all about love and not hate and arrogance... introducing others... all people to the love of Christ.

Ezek. 16:49 & 50⁴⁹Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. ⁵⁰And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

Husband & wife joke: "But , pastor," lamented the young husband in for counseling, "whenever Mary and I quarrel, she becomes historical." Pastor said, "You mean hysterical?" Young husband said, "no, I mean historical, she is always digging up my past." lol

Marriage Joke: A young man was listening to his pastor teach on marriage. Afterwards, pastor said, "Earl would you like to get married, someday?" Earl said, "well sir, marriage is a great institution, but I'm just not ready for an institution yet!" lol

The Glass House:

Our society places pastors & pastors wives in glass houses... transparent to the world's view.

A view where the religious sect had rather take their vacation or set up permanent dwelling than to go view the awesome Caribbean Islands or live in an Hawaii Resort.

Skeptics & scoffers are constantly looking for anything to discredit God in our lives. We 'all' need to look for God's awesome Grace & forgiveness.

What will you see when you look inside our glass home?

* You will see Christ's love covering a couple who loves "HIM" & loves each other wholeheartedly.
* You will see broken lives healed from past wounds... almost destroyed by decisions but restored by the Savior's touch.
* You will see all clean laundry... cleansed by the blood of the "LAMB."

We wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We're living in the will of God... in a glass house with free lighting... transparent to a world that need light... where anyone can see who we are, where we've been and where we're going.

Extreme Life Change

What's in your life you want to change? CROSS FORWARD!

We live in a world of extreme circumstances: uncertainty, violence, abuse, immoral conduct and addictions. A world where individuals, couples, parents & children... 'JUST' can't cope... extreme living in a world of extreme change.

It is time to Cross forward into abundant living. God offers a Cross forward to anyone desiring an extreme life change; who's committed to change... because as long as we 'love' what we're doing or will tolerate what's going on in our lives; we will never experience our Cross forward. We will have to get fed up enough to find the Cross in our extreme circumstances that leads us from extreme living into 'HIS' abundant living. We will continue to deal with problems and issues; but if we're committed to change; we can... because God will change us and help us cope and conquer the enemy of our destiny. If we fall, 'HE' will lift us up again... restore and never condemn.

The Most radical extreme life change in the Bible, in my opinion is in Luke the eight chapter starting at the 25th verse where the man is possessed... living in the tombs... out of his mind... unclothed but when Jesus walked into his life... a Cross forward took place... His life was turned around from extreme living to abundant living. I believe he was committed to change and God saw that sincerity in his heart and delivered him. Jesus went through EXTREME living to give us our CROSS forward into 'HIS' abundant life... it is time... we find the CROSS.

We have one life, one walk to offer to God to use for his glory.

At Cross N Crown we have begun this year walking the walk of the church. It is time for the church to rise above denominational walls and reach beyond our own strength.

We're a small church, so we've had to give small but I believe we are still making a difference in our area and the world.

We are feeding the hungry in our community.
We are drilling wells in third world countries.
We are reaching special need orphans.
We are giving to the IOCC, which in the spirit of Christ’s love, offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination,
and for the second year now are giving backpacks and school supplies to our area students. Pray for us as we endeavor to do more in his kingdom.

My husband preaching

Our vacation in Destin, Florida was awesome. Marvin is a lot like Chevy Chase, he radiates with the vacation excitement... so my wonderful husband and I slipped away early before my Mom is released from HMC Skills and when I will take on the task of caregiver again. Attention all prayer warriors... Mom has had a severe stroke; her entire left side has been affected to the point where she cannot walk or do anything for herself. Pray for Marvin also because I know it's not going to be long that he will need another vacation... or a get-a-way with me, his wife, especially when I'm not with him as much as I would like to be. So pray for us too.

Understanding Life

Will your life only be a statistic?

We use the word statistic so frequently but have you ever thought about the fact that you are a statistic! Your birth, length of life, cause of death, and the day you die are all statistics! Think about it! I did and I finally realized my life is a gift, a span of time given to me from God. The way I use this gift is my destiny I choose.

To exist simply means, we will also die. It is hard to imagine us dying ~ death only happens to someone else, right; because we all have known others that have died.

I don't know about you, but I refuse to be only a statistic in the obituary column reading: born ~ died ~ the daughter of ~ survived by. No way! I want to be more than an existence! I want to make a positive difference in lives, in society, in my generation and in the kingdom of God for the generations to come.

What legacy will you leave behind?

I'm not talking about wealth, material things, an awesome career move. I'm talking about a Godly influence, a positive difference made in our own lives and in the lives of others that will continue~effectively after we die.

It is important to live a Godly life. It is important to be good to my husband, It is important to be a mom to my children, It is important to help my fellowman. It is important to be used by the spirit of God in re-directing lives ~ headed down the path of destruction. It is important to enlighten others and to see their lives transformed by the Spirit of God!

Are you interested in making a positive change in your life which will make a difference not only in your life but in the lives that are all around you. Our Divine Destiny begins when we invite Jesus into our lives. I think we can all make a difference by understanding our origin~we come from God and understanding our provision~accepting Jesus Christ and then understanding life~a gift from God, a span of time given where we're changing, growing, learning, influencing & achieving.

Life never stays the same; there is always change, there is always good and there is always bad but God is the good in the bad. He is in full control! He has all knowledge!. He has all wisdom! He is our understanding when we can't understand.

I am not a great theologian nor do I have years of study in anthropology, but I have been through many difficult times and in retrospect, I see the hand of God. And I see myself. I realize when I was younger none of those difficulties were of my doing but God so graciously took me through them. I also realize as I got older and made some wrong decisions in life, that they could have been avoided if I would have obeyed the Bible: His wisdom, His knowledge,His understanding. We're not perfect and God loves us! He restores us and if we will only read our manual~the Bible, and do what God says, we will always be a positive influence in this world that will effect others, will effect eternity and will advance the kingdom of God by restoring shattered lives. I am one that was saved by the grace of God and I have been restored by the grace of God.

Do you know someone wasting the gift of life?

I ask you to pray for them, not judge & condemn them, but allow God to use you to bring them to the Cross; because Calvary is all about saving, restoring shattered lives~making a difference in this world for the world to come.

Be Who You Are

BE WHO YOU ARE

You're familiar with the bible story: David And Goliath. How David was instructed to put on the armor of Saul; and how it wasn't David's style... it didn't fit... he had to walk in his own style to please God.

You must be who you are in God, and don't try to wear another man's armor. It didn't work for David and it will not work for you.

God does not want you to be bound in fear suffocating you from being who you are... you need to be free in Christ. Allow God to show off within you! If you will be the person God made you... you will attract others... they will want to be around you because you are... who you are; and you can go forth and conquer the giant in your life.

It is sad to be around someone, trying to act like someone they are not. In their minds they are really fitting in... making an impression, when actually they look like the misfit... exactly what they didn't want to look like; and the irony of it is, the person usually has a dynamic sparkling personality but because of shyness or fear they close themselves off where only one or two of their closest friends truly know them...

God loves stretching you. God made you different with a unique personality. If Christ is in you and you are in Him... you are a new creature... you can grasp life and walk boldly in Him; accomplishing more than you ever dreamed. God wants to take you to greater heights! He loves to surprise you and raise you up in places where you couldn't go... He enjoys stretching you until you become flexible and of use to Him. He is the best that is within you; allow him to shine.

Change? where is it?

Change is within you. The changes you make, good or bad, will depend on the choices you make and the directions you follow in life.

The fact you are alive is because God chose you to be born. Your existence is for his benefit, his glory, and his purpose.

In your one life journey are many opportunities. The most important is the choice to become a Christian. You, accepting Christ is only the beginning of an awesome life.

After salvation... follows assurance and purpose because as you seek him, he will open doors for you to serve others, where you can make a real difference in your community and in your world.

Serving adds to his kingdom because you are influencing others. Your spiritual growth will bring change ~ not so much about ‘doing’ as it is ‘becoming’ – becoming more like Christ. It's a one life journey of change which takes perseverance and intentional focus toward a total commitment to God desires and not your own.

You should strive to achieve and learn but it will not be personal achievements nor intellectual changes that matters; it is who you are becoming in the process.

Christian living is and will always be about change. The change from the inside out through the Holy Spirit.

At Cross N Crown Church, we believe what we are and what we have should be shared with others... loving them the same way Jesus loves you and through genuine fellowship of sharing, serving and giving sacrificially for the cause of Christ, together we can make a difference in the world in which we live.

WINNING

Where will your enemy show to take away what God has given?

He will show in peace… when everything is going great and the peace of God is so awesome in your life… the enemy will appear to destroy, just as he did in the Garden of Eden with Adam & Eve. Genesis the 3rd chapter.

He will show in increase… when everything is going your way… blessings, prosperity, righteousness & perfection… he will show himself to kill and destroy… just as the enemy did in Job’s life ~ taking away everything he had even the lives of his children; even his friends accused him of wrong doing.
Job's enemy showed up in Job the first chapter but keep reading because every wrong brought him closer to God. In chapter 42 Job said, “I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.”

The enemy will show when you are full of the Holy Spirit… Jesus was full of the Holy Ghost, and was led by God into the wilderness. satan showed himself offering every temptation: natural food, worldly power and mind manipulation. Jesus fought by using the Word of God and conquered every temptation. This all took place in Luke the 4th chapter.

I love the 18th & 19th verses… after he came out of the wilderness, Jesus quoted this passage: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Have A Cup Of Coffee...

What's Your Dream?

We all have a dream, more than likely, that we have never accomplished during our life time.

As we look back into our childhood we see how we could not wait until we started to school... how we could not wait until we were sixteen... and then there's our teen years when we could not wait until we were twenty-one years old. 'Now' we realize we're senior citizens... saying to ourselves... 'I can't believe how my time has vanished and how much of it I have wasted and I have not fulfilled the dream that lies dormant inside me.'

Whether we're young of old, the number 'one' reason why we haven't fulfilled our dream is procrastination. When we're young we think we have plenty of time and when we're old we think we don't have enough time... sound familiar.

But I'm here this morning to become your motivator. If you are breathing, do something toward fulfilling your dream; If it will benefit humanity or if it will benefit the kingdom of God. God will bless your ambition and your passion in your dream. Allow the passion to rise up in you motivating you to a new level with the audacity to finish your dream... yes you can.

A Brand New Turning Point...

Today is a new Day, God has given us with new opportunities. It can be a brand new turning point in many of our lives, full of God's promises; and full of God's dreams if we follow 'HIS' road signs. We'll find the correct turns in His WORD.

Turning point is a change in direction at a specific time, for a reason or need, in an individual's life to bring about meaning and purpose... what we call as Christians destiny!

If we are honest, we 'all' want to experience meaning from the time and opportunities, God has given us as individuals while we're living. The beginning point in our turning point is accepting Christ which will bring about focus, direction, meaning & purpose in a personal relationship on a daily basis.

Joke, laugh & enjoy life: The only exercise some people get is: jumping at conclusions, running down their friends, sidestepping responsibility and pushing their luck.
